Madam Speaker, distinguished colleagues, what I call a vicious pattern
of political persecution against us progressive Party-List
Representatives fall within the ambit of the so-called legal offensive
of the Arroyo government's internal security and counterinsurgency
program which is overseen by the Cabinet Oversight Committee on
Internal Security headed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita.
On the Hypocrisy of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's Call to Lower Tuition Rates
By Rep. Teodoro A. Casiño June 2, 2008
I rise to avail of the privilege hour to speak on the welfare of the millions of Filipino youth who are being deprived of their right to
education.
School is about to start and once again, we are saddened by reports
that many higher education institutions or HEIs are about to increase
their tuition and other school fees. This, even with the reality that
the whole nation is suffering from the soaring prices of rice, oil and
power, and other basic needs.
Honorable colleagues, on behalf of my fellow progressive partylist
repesentatives, I would like to bring to your attention another case of
political persecution of activists and members of the legal militant
people’s movement. Esperon’s extension to office as AFP Chief-of Staff has already claimed
its first casualty, and he is not a member of the New People’s Army.
On the Plight of November 2007 Civil Engineering Board Examinees
By Rep. Teodoro A. Casiño
December 11, 2007
Clearly, the PRC has acted with undue haste in nullifying the
examination results and ordering a retake thereof without first
conducting a fair and thorough investigation. By its paranoid actions,
the PRC is ironically undermining the integrity of the Civil
Engineering profession.
Today peoples all over the world observe the 59th year of the United
Nations Declaration of Human Rights. The Philippines was among the 48
countries that adopted this historic declaration in 1948. Ironically,
our country which is a member of the newly established UN Human Rights
Council, has gained international notoriety for countless human right
violations especially in the last six years.
On the Rage-Inducing Plight of the People of Southville I, Cabuyao, Laguna
By Rep. Teodoro A. Casiño
November 27, 2007
Dito ho sa Pilipinas, kapag sinabi mong nakatira ka sa subdivision,
sosyal ang dating mo, lalu na kapag ang pangalan ng lugar mo ay
Southville Subdivision Phase I. The picture that comes to your mind is
a well-tended community with concrete houses, a clubhouse and
tree-lined streets. A place where there is 24-hour village security and
where garbage is collected thrice a week. Pero para ho sa 30,000
mamamayan ng Southville I sa Barangay Marinig sa Cabuyao, kung anong
ganda ng pangalan ng kanilang lugar ay siya naming sahol ng kanilang
kalagayan.
